Spring in the Valley

With the cold weather around the Willamette Valley in the past few weeks, it might not feel like spring is on its way. But believe it or not, the Willamette Valley is about to come alive. From wine tasting to farmers markets, there's something for everyone to enjoy. So, shake off those winter blues and get ready to explore!

A Taste of Spring

Spring in the Willamette Valley tends to be delicious. If you enjoy wine tasting, check out Ankeny Vineyard in Salem. Along with wine, they serve wood-fired pizza and delicious desserts. If your trip to the valley brings you closer to Eugene, stop by Sweet Cheeks Winery for an unforgettable tasting experience. Many wineries in the area will host special events during the spring, giving you the opportunity to sample delicious wines while enjoying the breathtaking Oregon views. If local produce is more your style, stop by the Lebanon & Sweet Home Farmers Market to stock up on your favorite fresh fruits and vegetables.

Outdoor Adventures

Spring is the perfect time to explore the natural beauty of the Willamette Valley. While the Oregon Coast is certainly chilly this time of year, it's a great place to spend the day outdoors. If you find yourself in Newport, check out the Yaquina Head Lighthouse and Cobble Beach Loop. This is two outdoor activities in one, as you have the opportunity to explore an old lighthouse and also get some physical activity on a short hike. Spending the day at the park is another fun spring option. If you have a few hours to spare, park your car at Riverfront Park in Salem, and walk over the bridge to Minto Brown Island Park. The trail is beautiful, and it's also a great chance to break out those bikes.

Arts and Culture

Did you know that the Willamette Valley has a thriving arts and culture scene? Whether you want to spend the day looking at paintings, or letting your kids take their imagination and creativity to the next level, there is something for you. Spend a few hours at The Hallie Ford Museum of Art in downtown Salem, which is ran by Willamette University. As the third largest art museum in Oregon, it's highly recommended by locals. They feature rotating exhibits throughout the year. Currently, they are featuring Brenda Mallory: North Star Changes. For younger art enthusiasts, the Gilbert House Children's Museum in Salem offers engaging and interactive exhibits designed to spark curiosity and learning through hands-on activities and creative play.

Planning Your Trip

Check local event calendars and tourism websites for the most up-to-date information on festivals, markets, and other activities.  Book accommodations in advance, especially if you're traveling during peak season. And don't forget to pack your camera to capture all the beauty and excitement of spring in the Willamette Valley!
